
Cal Poly Softball Opens 2026 Season at Feb. 6-8 NorCal Kickoff

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Returning six positional starters and 13 letterwinners from last spring, the Cal Poly softball program opens its 52nd varsity campaign and 49-game regular season schedule with five matchups at the Feb. 6-8 NorCal Kickoff, co-hosted by Sacramento State and UC Davis. The 2026 season gets under Friday, Feb. 6 against Colorado State (16-32 last season) at 9:30 a.m. and San Diego (20-29) at 2:30 p.m. Play continues Saturday, Feb. 7 against Saint Mary’s (28-23) at 9:30 a.m. and Sacramento State (27-23) at 2:30 p.m. before concluding Sunday, Feb. 8 with a 12 noon rematch versus San Diego. All of Cal Poly’s NorCal Kickoff games will be played at Sacramento State, aside from Friday’s 2:30 p.m. matchup with San Diego (UC Davis). Cal Poly has one previous appearance at the NorCal Kickoff, sweeping all five opponents to open the 2024 season.

CAL POLY VERSUS NORCAL KICKOFF OPPONENTS: The Mustangs lead the all-time series against Colorado State, 11-6, with the Rams edging Cal Poly in the last matchup, 1-0 (Feb. 14, 2025) … Cal Poly captured the last meeting with San Diego, 6-5 (nine innings) on Feb. 24, 2023 with the Mustangs holding a 14-3 series lead since the first meeting on April 10, 1981 … Cal Poly has prevailed in its last five contests with Saint Mary’s and holds a 37-4 series advantage since the initial doubleheader between the two sides on March 24, 1985 … Sacramento State took two of three games at Cal Poly last season, but the Mustangs lead the all-time series, 44-39, since the first matchup on April 30, 1976.
CONDON ON THE VERGE OF MORE HISTORY: The first and only female head coach in Big West history to coach 1,000 games at a member program in any sport, 22nd-year Cal Poly head coach Jenny Condon requires just 14 more victories to become the sixth coach in conference history to reach 500 career wins. The winningest female head coach in university history, Condon ranks sixth in Big West history with both 486 total victories and 210 conference wins. A four-time Big West Coach of the Year honoree, Condon has accounted for 41 percent of the program’s 1,196 all-time victories.
LOOKING AHEAD (Feb. 13-15): Cal Poly resumes action at Stanford’s Feb. 13-15 DeMarini Invitational with four matchups – three against ranked opponents. After facing No. 18 Stanford on Friday, Feb. 13 (6 p.m.), the Mustangs square off with Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 14 (3 p.m.). Action at Stanford concludes on Sunday, Feb. 15 versus No. 5 Oregon (10 a.m.) and host the host Cardinal (3 p.m.).
