SAN LUIS OBISPO – Left fielder Kiara Blanchard finished 3-for-4 during her final collegiate game and the Cal Poly softball program – after tying the scoreline against UC Davis three times Saturday – was unable to do so at the fourth opportunity as the Mustangs closed 2026 with a 4-3 setback to the Aggies.
Deadlocking the scoreline at 1-1 in the bottom of the first through an RBI single from freshman first baseman Myleigh Cooper and 2-2 in the fourth after a Blanchard run-scoring double (below), Cal Poly once again fell behind in the top of the fifth after Aggies catcher Naomi Kalanetra scored left fielder Claire Shelton with a double.
However, Mustang third baseman Mylina Garza (above, right) – making her 177th career and final appearance Saturday – singled home Cooper with one down during the bottom half of the fifth to tie the matchup a third time.
The Aggies though surged back in front in the sixth with pinch runner Vanessa Calvillo scoring on a wild pitch.

Retired in order to close the sixth, Cal Poly received back-to-back one-out singles in the seventh from sophomore shortstop Sienna Erskine and junior center fielder A’Niyla Byrd. Garza next hit into a fielder’s choice that erased Byrd at second and, with runners at the corner bases and two down, freshman designated player Madi Bohannon struck out on a full-count pitch to end the game.
Each of Cal Poly’s four graduating players featured in Saturday’s finale.
Blanchard, making her 158th career start Saturday, departs the program ranked 10th all-time with 62 walks, 11th with 28 doubles and 13th with 71 RBI.
Garza, starting 176 of a possible 180 games during her four-year career and missing just one game in the last three seasons, ranks third all-time with eight sacrifice flies.
Saturday’s starter, Ally Robbins, and reliever Amy Ross both set new career bests in 2026 for appearances, innings pitched and strikeouts.
