Cal Poly Softball Names Dallas Escobedo Magee Assistant Coach

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Bringing experience as a two-time All-America selection and Women’s College World Series champion at Arizona State and from the international and professional levels, Dallas Escobedo Magee was recently named Cal Poly softball assistant coach.
“We’re thrilled to have Dallas join our coaching staff,” 23rd-year Cal Poly head coach Jenny Condon said. “Dallas has experience and success at every level of the game. Her ability to relate to our pitching staff will be a huge asset for us as well as her ability to throw batting practice to prepare for opponents. Our hitters will elevate their game by seeing her throw to them every day.”
Escobedo joins the Cal Poly staff after helping lead the Utah Talons to a second successive Athletes Unlimited Softball League championship in 2026. Previously, Escobedo competed in Japan’s Diamond League from 2019-25 and pitched for both the Texas Charge (2017) and Pennsylvania Rebellion (2014-16) in National Pro Fastpitch.
“I’m excited to join the staff and Cal Poly community,” Escobedo Magee said. “Jenny and (associate head coach Gina Vecchione) exuded excitement and a positive energy that drew me into the position. Getting back into coaching is important to me because this game has blessed me with a lifetime of opportunities and being able to come to San Luis Obispo is a dream come true. I’m so thankful for the trust they have in me to work with amazing athletes that love the game of softball as much as I do.”

An NFCA All-America selection in 2011 (first team) and 2013 (second), Escobedo still ranks second in Arizona State history for career wins (115), shutouts (39), starts (140), complete games (116), appearances (173), strikeouts (1,224) and innings pitched (950.1). Also a three-time NFCA All-West Region performer, four-time All-Pac-12 pick and the conference’s 2011 Freshman of the Year honoree, Escobedo graduated with a 2.01 ERA.
Helping drive Arizona State’s 2011 Women’s College World Series title run, Escobedo was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player as a freshman after striking out 38 hitters in 35 innings.
At international level, Escobedo teamed with former Mustang All-America righthander Sierra Hyland on the Mexico Women’s National Team for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. Escobedo earned two group stage victories before Mexico ultimately lost the bronze medal game to Canada.
The No. 1 overall selection in the 2014 NPF Draft, Escobedo was inducted into the Arizona State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2025.
