SAN LUIS OBISPO – After compiling one of the most impressive initial seasons in program history, Cal Poly softball first baseman Myleigh Cooper was named to both the All-Big West second team and conference all-freshman team Tuesday afternoon.
Cooper, the only Mustang to start and appear in all 46 games this spring, led Cal Poly and finished ninth among Big West hitters with a .378 (51-for-135) batting average – the 14th highest single season mark in program history.
Batting .383 (31-for-81) in 27 Big West games, Cooper also topped Cal Poly’s lineup with 51 hits, a .511 slugging percentage, 69 total bases, three homers and 16 multi-hit games.
Defensively, Cooper posted a .987 fielding percentage with just three errors in 235 chances.
With Tuesday’s selection, Cooper became Cal Poly’s fourth Big West All-Freshman Team honoree in the past five seasons.
Compiling one of the most impressive freshman seasons in program history, congratulations Myleigh!
