HONOLULU, O’ahu – Freshman first baseman Myleigh Cooper’s team leading third homer of the year handed the Cal Poly softball team an early lead during Saturday’s series finale at Hawai’i and senior left fielder Kiara Blanchard supplied a run-scoring sacrifice fly, but Rainbow Wahine shortstop Milan Ah Yat drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk during the bottom of the seventh to help hand the hosts a 3-2 walkoff victory.
After dropping both games of Friday’s series-opening doubleheader, Cal Poly took Saturday’s initial lead through Cooper (above, left), who lofted the fourth pitch of the second inning over the left field wall at Ranbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
After stranding the Hawai’i bases loaded to close the first, Mustang starting junior righthander Ally Robbins retired the Rainbow Wahine in order during the second and induced an inning-ending double play ball to complete the third. She stranded one more to end the fourth before Blanchard (below) doubled Cal Poly’s lead during the top of the fifth by following sophomore right fielder Maddy Bermudez’s leadoff triple with a run-scoring fly out.

Hawai’i, however, tied the matchup in the bottom half through third baseman Jamie McGaughey’s two-out, two-run single.
Into the seventh, Cal Poly stranded another baserunner during the top half before Hawai’i loaded the bases in the bottom through back-to-back Mustang errors and an intentional walk to McGaughey.
Having taken over for Robbins following McGaughey’s fifth-inning single, freshman reliever Kaylee Davis forced a pop out from first baseman Millie Fidge. Her next four pitches to Ah Yat, however, were all balls with Larisa Goshi forced home for the 3-2 decision.
Cal Poly closes the 2026 regular season when hosting UC Davis for a Friday, May 1 doubleheader and Saturday, May 2 solo matchup. First pitch each afternoon is 1 p.m.
