SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly softball program embarks on its lengthiest road trip of 2025 – a six-game stretch – when visiting Washington on Tuesday, March 25 at 4 p.m., Seattle for a Wednesday, March 26 doubleheader at 3 p.m. and UC Santa Barbara in a return to Big West action March 29-30. Looking to snap a nine-game slide when facing Washington (23-9) on B1G+ (stream), Cal Poly’s Wednesday matchups at Seattle (20-9) conclude the program’s first visit to the Pacific Northwest in six years. Resuming Big West play at the weekend, Cal Poly seeks its first conference win of the year. Washington, which received 14 points in the March 25 edition of the NFCA/GoRout Top 25 poll, takes a three-game winning streak into Tuesday’s contest after splitting a pair of home games versus No. 8 Oregon (March 16) and taking two run-rule decisions from Rutgers (March 22). Seattle, meanwhile, has won 10 straight, most recently sweeping a three-game series against Creighton (March 21-22). UC Santa Barbara (17-14, 7-2) has won five of its last six to ascend to the top of the Big West standings.

CAL POLY VERSUS WASHINGTON: The Huskies increased their all-time series lead against the Mustangs to 5-2 with a 7-1 victory in Cal Poly’s last visit to Seattle on March 27, 2019. Cal Poly's last victory versus Washington was a 2-0 triumph against the then-No. 18 Huskies on Feb. 16, 2013.
CAL POLY VERSUS SEATTLE: Cal Poly seeks a second successive victory against Seattle following a 3-1 win at last season’s Silicon Valley Classic. The Redhawks, however, swept a March 26, 2019 doubleheader during Cal Poly’s last visit to Seattle and lead the all-time series, 3-2.
CAL POLY VERSUS UC SANTA BARBARA: With UC Santa Barbara the first and most frequent opponent in Cal Poly’s 51-season history, the Mustangs took a 77-76 series lead after winning two of three home games against the Gauchos last spring. Cal Poly seeks just its third series win against UC Santa Barbara since 2017 and first road series win since 2010 after dropping 16 of the previous 18 road matchups against the Gauchos. The two sides first met on April 12, 1975 with Cal Poly delivering a 16-9 home victory.
Big week for the Mustangs with six road matchups, starting Tuesday at Washington (4 p.m.), continuing Wednesday with a DH at Seattle (3 p.m.) and concluding with a Saturday-Sunday series at UC Santa Barbara!#RideHigh pic.twitter.com/K09RJV2KDR

BARNETT ADDS OFFENSE TO THE RESUME: The reigning Big West Defensive Player of the Year honoree, senior catch Julia Barnett remains Cal Poly’s top hitter, leading the Mustangs with a .329 (26-for-79) batting average, 26 hits, 34 total bases and 14 RBI. Having hit safely a team best 18 times this season, Barnett – who swatted her second career homer during a Feb. 8 home matchup with Oregon State – also paces Cal Poly with seven multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games A starter in all 113 games since the start of the 2023 season, Barnett is a .987 career fielder with just nine errors in 692 total chances.
BERMUDEZ BREAKS OUT: Hitting safely in 17 of her first 26 collegiate games, freshman left fielder Maddy Bermudez enters Cal Poly’s March 25 matchup at Washington as the program’s second leading hitter with a .303 (23-for-76) mark. Batting .324 (12-for-37) in Cal Poly’s last 12 games, Bermudez co-leads Cal Poly with nine runs while topping the Mustangs with two triples. Bermudez is one of only three Mustangs to start all 26 games and the only freshman to do so.
BLANCHARD HEATS UP: Having reached base in 16 of her last 18 appearances, junior center fielder Kiara Blanchard – third among Big West players with eight doubles – enters Cal Poly’s March 25 matchup at Washington batting .400 (12-for-30) in the program’s last 12 outings. Second in Cal Poly’s lineup with six multi-hit games, four of those efforts for Blanchard have come since March 1.
ERSKINE ON THE RISE: Just one Mustang – senior catcher Julia Barnett – had produced a three-game game this season until freshman shortstop Sienna Erskine accomplished the feat for the first time in her career during Cal Poly’s 4-3 win against Loyola Marymount (March 2). With just one hit in her first seven collegiate games, Erskine – a starter in 22 of 25 appearances and now the program’s everyday shortstop – has four multi-hit efforts in her last 14 outings.
CONDON ON THE VERGE OF MORE HISTORY: The winningest female head coach in university history, Jenny Condon requires just 19 more Mustang victories to become only the fifth head coach in Big West history to reach 500 career wins. Cal Poly’s April 12 doubleheader opening matchup at UC Riverside will also mark Condon’s 1,000th career game – a figure reached by just two previous Big West head coaches. A four-time Big West Coach of the Year honoree, Condon ranks sixth in conference history with both 481 total victories and 206 Big West wins.
CAL POLY SELECTED FIFTH IN BIG WEST PRESEASON POLL: A year after finishing third in the Big West standings with an 18-8 mark, Cal Poly was selected for a fifth-place finish during the 2025 season following the Jan. 30 release of the conference preseason coaches’ poll. The Mustangs earned 45 points to finish seven votes shy of Hawai’i. Long Beach State, last season’s Big West runner-up, took top spot in the poll with 81 total points and nine of 10 first-place votes. Defending champion Cal State Fullerton earned 63 points and the remaining first-place vote. UC Santa Barbara was third on 59 points.
