SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly softball program plays four of its final six Big West Conference series away from home, opening six-game road trip with a three-game set at Big West Conference co-leader Hawai'i. Playing its only games outside of California this season, Cal Poly opens the series at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium with a 7 p.m. PT (4 p.m. HT) doubleheader on Friday, April 8 before concluding with a 9 p.m. PT (6 p.m. HT) matchup on Saturday, April 9. Visiting Hawai'i for the first time since 2018 after the 2020 season series was cancelled, Cal Poly (8-21, 3-6) moved to eighth place in the Big West standings after taking two of three home games from UC Santa Barbara (April 2-3). Winners of eight of its last 10 games, Hawai'i (13-11, 7-2) retained a share of first place atop the Big West standings with Cal State Fullerton (22-13, 7-2) and Long Beach State (17-17, 7-2) after winning two of three matchups at UC San Diego (April 1-2).

CAL POLY VERSUS HAWAI'I: The Rainbow Wahine lead the all-time series, 19-10, dating to the first matchup on Feb. 24, 1995 – a 4-0 Hawai'i victory. The two programs met three times in 1995, then not again until Hawai'i joined the Big West Conference for the 2013 season and produced a series sweep. After sweeping Hawai'i on the road in 2014, Cal Poly has won just once in the last six matchups at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Overall, Hawai'i takes a nine-game winning streak into Friday's doubleheader after sweeping the last three series (2018-19, 2021).
CLOSE, BUT …: Twelve of Cal Poly's 29 games – 41 percent – have been decided by a single run with the Mustangs holding just a 2-10 mark in such matchups. Cal Poly's two one-run victories include a 7-6 home win versus UC Santa Barbara (April 2) and 2-1 home triumph against Nevada (March 12).
AMOS ROUNDING OFF STANDOUT CAREER: Cal Poly's leading hitter and ranked sixth among Big West players with a .387 (36-for-93) mark, senior shortstop Maddie Amos enters the April 8-9 series at Hawai'i having hit safely in 17 of her last 19 outings. Also Cal Poly's leader for doubles (six), homers (three), RBI (20), extra-base hits (10) and total bases (53), Amos has struck out just nine times in 100 plate appearances, averaging one every 10 at-bats. Owner of nine multi-hit games (including three, three-hit efforts), Amos – the March 7 Big West Field Player of the Week honoree – ranks 12th in program history with a .318 (109-for-343) career batting average. Amos has started 119 of a possible 136 games during her career and all 64 since the start of the 2021 season.
CLEMENTS DEBUT A HIT: Having hit safely in 21 of 29 games – including career best four-hit outings against San Diego State (Feb. 13) and San Jose State (Feb. 25) – freshman left fielder Jessica Clements ranks seventh among Big West Conference players with a .383 (36-for-94) batting average and 36 hits and eighth with a team best 20 runs. Also Cal Poly's leader with 11 multi-hit games, Clements – the Feb. 14 Big West Freshman Player of the Week honoree – is one of four Mustangs to start all 29 games this season alongside senior shortstop Maddie Amos, senior designated player Lily Amos and junior second baseman Xiara Diaz.
ALLMAN IN THE CIRCLE: Having conceded just 13 earned runs in her last 35.2 innings worked, senior lefthander Krystyna Allman ranks second among Big West pitchers with 17 starts, third with nine complete games, fourth with a 2.44 ERA and fifth with 99.1 innings pitched. Tossing a complete-game, four-hitter to earn her fifth win of the year in a 7-1 decision against UC Santa Barbara (April 3), Allman struck out a season best nine against Penn (March 5).
SIBLINGS IN THE FOLD: Among the 293 Division I programs for the 2022 season, Cal Poly – alongside Indiana State and IUPUI – is one of just three teams to feature multiple pairs of siblings on the roster. With seniors Maddie and Lily Amos each starting all 29 games, freshman third baseman Caroline Allman – a starter in 11 of 21 appearances – has entered the lineup alongside senior lefthander Krystyna Allman.
