SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly softball program plays the initial six matchups of its 20-game home schedule at Bob Janssen Field when hosting the Feb. 19-22 Mustang Classic. After participation in last week’s Cardinal Classic at Stanford was canceled, Cal Poly (0-5) – following an 11-day hiatus – opens Mustang Classic action on Thursday, Feb. 19 with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Sacramento State (8-2). Cal Poly’s portion of the tournament continues Friday, Feb. 20 versus Pacific (1-9) at 5 p.m. A Saturday, Feb. 21 rematch with Pacific follows at 2:30 p.m. before Cal Poly faces first-time opponent Manhattan (3-5) at 5 p.m. The Mustangs conclude play Sunday, Feb. 22 versus San Jose State at 2:30 p.m. The complete Mustang Classic schedule is below. Cal Poly has compiled a 44-27 overall record in 15 previous Mustang Classic tournaments since 2007.

CAL POLY VERSUS MUSTANG CLASSIC OPPONENTS: Sacramento State closed its all-time series gap against Cal Poly to 44-40 with a 5-2 home victory on Feb. 7. The two programs first met on April 30, 1976 … Cal Poly last met Pacific at the 2022 Mustang Classic, winning twice. Pacific leads the all-time series, 42-29, dating to the first matchup on Feb. 29, 1980 … Cal Poly has never previously faced Manhattan … San Jose State defeated Cal Poly twice at its 2025 Silicon Valley Classic to take an 18-14 series lead.
CONDON ON THE VERGE OF MORE HISTORY: The first and only female head coach in Big West history to coach 1,000 games at a member program in any sport, 22nd-year Cal Poly head coach Jenny Condon requires just 14 more victories to become the sixth coach in conference history to reach 500 career wins. The winningest female head coach in university history, Condon ranks sixth in Big West history with both 486 total victories and 210 conference wins. A four-time Big West Coach of the Year honoree, Condon has accounted for 41 percent of the program’s 1,196 all-time victories.
LOOKING AHEAD (TUESDAY, FEB. 24): Cal Poly enjoys a day off before hosting Santa Clara (6-5) for a Tuesday, Feb. 24 doubleheader. First pitch is 1 p.m. The Mustangs then visit San Diego’s Feb. 27-March 1 Torero Classic for five matchups to close Big West preparations.
