Mustangs Back in Exhibition Action Saturday at San Jose State

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly men's soccer program plays the second of three exhibition warmup matches on Saturday, Aug. 19 when visiting San Jose State.
Kickoff from Spartan Soccer Complex is 2 p.m. for Cal Poly, which opened its preseason training camp under first-year head coach Oige Kennedy on Aug. 11 and dropped a 1-0 decision at UCLA in its initial Tuesday evening exhibition.

Twenty-five of Cal Poly's 33 rostered players saw action during Tuesday's visit to UCLA with only a 38th-minute goal from Bruins defender Grayson Doody separating the two sides.
Junior goalkeeper Gabe Penner – one of Cal Poly's 14 returning letterwinners from a year ago – chalked up a second-half save against the Bruins to preserve the one-goal deficit.
Following Saturday's matchup, Cal Poly hosts Division II Fresno Pacific on Wednesday, Aug. 23 in its final preseason tuneup. The Mustangs then open the regular season on Monday, Aug. 28 against first-time opponent Oral Roberts at 4:30 p.m.
San Jose State was selected for a second-place finish in the Western Athletic Conference Coaches Poll.
