LOS ANGELES – Senior defender Grayson Doody's 38th-minute goal marked the difference Tuesday evening at Wallis Annenberg Stadium as the Cal Poly men's soccer program – playing the first of three preseason exhibition matches – fell to UCLA, 1-0.

The Mustangs limited UCLA – which reached the third round of last year's NCAA Tournament – to just seven total shot attempts and only two on target. Junior goalkeeper Gabe Penner (above) chalked up a solitary save for the Mustangs during the second half before giving way to junior transfer Andres Rosales in the 81st minute.

Cal Poly continues exhibition action at San Jose State on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. The Mustangs complete preparations for the regular season when hosting Division II Fresno Pacific on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m.
