SAN LUIS OBISPO – Returning six starters and 12 letterwinners from last year's side that finished as Big West Conference regular season runners-up, the Cal Poly men's soccer program opens its 16-match regular season schedule and a three-game road trip versus Dayton on Thursday, Aug. 25 (1 p.m. PT) at Ohio State's Wolstein Classic. Action at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium continues against the host Buckeyes on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. One of the youngest squads in Division I, Cal Poly counts 38 combined freshmen and sophomores on its 44-player roster (86 percent). Dayton (6-9-3 last year), facing Cal Poly for the first time in 17 years, closed its three-game preseason run with a 7-0 home victory versus IUPUI (Aug. 20). Ohio State (6-9-1), facing Cal Poly for the first time, hosts South Carolina in its Thursday season opener.
