Seeded No. 10 as an at-large selection for the 2022 NCAA Tournament – the program's first in 24 years – San Francisco fell in the opening round to Murray State, 92-87. CAL POLY VERSUS SAN FRANCISCO: Cal Poly's last visit to San Francisco – a 78-71 triumph on Dec. 15, 2014 – marks the program's only road victory versus the Dons in five previous all-time visits. San Francisco, which claimed an 88-60 victory in the last matchup – a Dec. 4, 2020 meeting in San Luis Obispo – leads the all-time series, 6-3.
KOROMA REMAINS CAL POLY'S OFFENSIVE CATALYST: One of Cal Poly's top two scorers for a third successive season, forward Alimamy Koroma opened his senior year with 15 points and game high seven rebounds against Bethesda (Nov. 7). With 37 career double-digit scoring games, Koroma is averaging 10.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 50.5 (306-for-606) percent through 77 collegiate outings and 49 starts. He requires 182 more points to become just the 25th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. Koroma also ranks eighth in program history with 60 career blocks.
THE SMITHS: With the addition of Jamal Smith – son of fourth-year head coach John Smith – as director of operations, Cal Poly is one of only two Division I programs with that familial distinction. Louisiana Monroe, featuring head coach Keith Richard and director of operations Luke, remains the other.
LOOKING AHEAD (FRIDAY, NOV. 18): Following an eight-day break, Cal Poly completes its first road trip of the season at Stanford on Friday, Nov. 18. Tip time from Maples Pavilion is 7:30 p.m. with action broadcast on Pac-12 Networks. Stanford, welcoming Cal Poly for the first time in five years, opened its season with an 88-78 home victory against Pacific. The Cardinal next visit Wisconsin (Friday, Nov. 11) before hosting No. 19 San Diego State (Tuesday, Nov. 15).
ETC.: Cal Poly is in its 79th season as a four-year program and 29th at the Division I level … since transitioning to the Division I level prior to the 1994-95 season, Cal Poly improved to 45-1 against non-Division I programs with a 94-59 home win against NCCAA Bethesda University (Nov. 7).
