
Big West Championship-Bound Mustangs Enjoy Historic Scoring Night in Regular Season Finale

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Sophomore Hamad Mousa led seven Mustangs in double-digit scoring figures with 23 points Saturday afternoon as the Cal Poly men’s basketball program completed the regular season with its highest regulation offensive output in 26 years, defeating Cal State Bakersfield, 108-76.
Sophomores Guzman Vasilic and Cayden Ward each finished with 16 points for Cal Poly (14-18, 10-10), which closed the first half with a 21-2 run to lead at the break, 62-41.
The Mustangs, who sank 13 three-pointers, quickly extended their lead to 74-42 after Mousa connected three times from long range inside the opening three minutes of the second half.
Committing just nine turnovers, Cal Poly led by as much as 42 during the second half.
Troy Plumtree scored 11 points for Cal Poly while Jackson Mosley, Peter Bandelj and Austin Goode each added 10. Bandelj also enjoyed eight assists – one shy of his career best.
Ward, meanwhile, grabbed a team high nine rebounds.
Cal Poly’s 108-point regulation output was its highest since defeating Cal State Fullerton at home on Feb. 12, 2000, 108-79.
