SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Soon after graduating from Cal Poly, Mustang forward Sierra Campisano will continue her basketball career overseas, having signed with BKG Prima in Szigetszentmiklós, Hungary.
Located just outside Budapest, BKG recently capped a championship run, going 26-1 overall to secure the NB1 B-Division crown, rewarded with earning promotion up to the A-Division.
"I'm beyond thrilled for this opportunity. I'm just so thankful for Cal Poly, and Coach Faith and 'T (Kristina Santiago) for helping to put me in this position so I could showcase myself and sign with a team," Campisano said. "Hungary will be a really cool place to immerse myself in a new culture and an all-around new experience, so I'm just really excited and thankful."
Campisano is coming off spending the WNBA training camp and preseason with the Chicago Sky. She made her pro debut on May 9 against the Indiana Fever, grabbing a defensive rebound during her seven minutes in Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Campisano, a back-to-back first-team all-conference honoree, led the Big West with 15.8 points per game in 2020-21. She also tied for second around the league in rebounding (averaging 8.7 boards) and ranked fourth in blocks (1.1 per game), helping Cal Poly advance to the conference tournament semifinals for the third time in four years.
Standing 6-foot-3, she also shot .338 from 3-point range in her career at Cal Poly (connecting on 48-of-142 looks from deep) and totaled 878 points over the previous two seasons, 21st-most in school history.
Earlier this month, Sopron won the NB1A title, defeating Atomeromu 3-1 in the Finals. The 2021-22 regular season starts the first week of October, following training camp this upcoming September.
