SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's basketball program announced Thursday that it has signed local Central Coast recruit Andrea Stajic to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Mustangs starting next season.
Stajic, an Arroyo Grande native, spent her first three years at Arroyo Grande High School and is playing her senior season this year at St. Joseph's High School in Orcutt.
As a junior last season, she averaged 17.9 points per game and helped lead the Eagles to a Mountain League Championship.
As a sophomore in 2019-20, she averaged 17.6 points per game and helped Arroyo Grande reach the CIF Division I Central Section championship game where she was the recipient of the Fighting Spirit Award.
Overall in her three years with the Eagles, she helped the program win two Mountain League championships.
"We are so excited to have Andrea join the Mustang family," head coach Faith Mimnaugh said. "We conducted a clinic at Andrea's school when she was in the eighth grade, and I knew immediately that we wanted Andrea to play at Cal Poly."
"We have followed her development ever since. She has great strength, can knock down the three, post up or make the right play for her teammate. Her work ethic, leadership skills, basketball IQ, versatility and toughness are qualities that stand out. Combine those qualities with her desire to excel in the classroom and you have a winner!"
Stajic, who is also just as talented in the classroom as she is on the court, has held a 4.0 gpa throughout high school. She plans to major in Engineering at Cal Poly.
"(Cal Poly) has the best coaching staff, a great education, and it is close to my family," Stajic answered when asked why she chose the Mustangs.
