OREM, Utah – Four separate Cal Poly men's soccer players produced multiple shot attempts Friday evening, but the Mustangs were held without an attempt on target by Utah Valley and dropped their 2019 regular season opener at Clyde Field, 1-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper Carlos Arce-Hurtado recorded two saves for Cal Poly (0-1-0) after taking over for starter Jason Hernandez at halftime, but a 69th-minute goal from senior forward Blake Frischknecht provided the difference in the first meeting between the two programs. The Mustangs, however, couldn't elicit a save from Utah Valley goalkeeper Mitch Jensen.
