
Cal Poly Drops Road Contest Against University of San Diego Monday

SAN DIEGO — Despite three saves from sophomore goalkeeper Carlos Arce-Hurtado, the Cal Poly men's soccer team fell on the road Monday to the University of San Diego, 3-0 to conclude its two-match road trip.
The Mustangs (0-2-0) and Toreros (2-0-0) held each other scoreless in the first half. However, the tie was broken in the 49th minute by San Diego's Paul Ramlow.
San Diego later extended the lead with two more goals within five minutes of each other. The second came in the 71st minute on a cross header by Jacob Planell and the third came in the 76th minute on an empty net by Freddy Polzer.
Cal Poly had two shots on goal for the match. The first came in the 28th minute by graduate forward Spencer Held and the second was in the 68th minute by redshirt sophomore forward Matthew Bautista.
Meanwhile, the Toreros finished the match with six shots on goal.
The Mustangs now get a week to prepare for their 2019 home opener against Fresno Pacific. That match is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10 at 7 p.m. from Spanos Stadium.
