Mustangs Held Friday Evening at No. 6 Indiana, 2-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Sixth-ranked Indiana scored 61 seconds after kickoff Friday evening before adding its second goal midway through the opening half as the Cal Poly men’s soccer program sustained its first setback of the season at Bill Armstrong Stadium, 2-0.
Cal Poly sophomore goalkeeper Mathew Guerra recorded his lone save inside Friday’s opening minute, but the parried block landed for Oliver Moller-Jensen at the right post and Indiana’s forward knocked in the opening goal in the second minute.
Indiana then doubled its lead on 31 minutes as midfielder Westin Carnevale headed defender Alex Bargar’s corner kick past Guerra at the left post.
The Mustangs, who had a 30th-minute goal chalked off for offsides, forced Indiana goalkeeper Michael Mroz into three saves Friday with midfielder Colin Pearce turned away in the 21st and forward Quinn Mahoney in the 39th. Mahoney also saw an attempt strike the right post three minutes from the break.
Senior midfielder Parker Mascott produced Cal Poly’s final shot on target four minutes from full time.
Mahoney led all players with four shot attempts in 44 reserve minutes.
