
Mustangs Down LMU to Cruise to Fourth Straight Win

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly men’s tennis continued to put on a show in front of its home fans Saturday, taking down LMU 5-2 to earn its fourth consecutive victory and remain unbeaten at home this season.
In doubles, the No. 3 pair of Luc Hoeijmans and Leo Matthysen started things off with a 6-2 win to move to 3-1 together this season. Then for the second straight match, it was the No. 2 duo of John Cross and Sean Kamyshev clinching the doubles point for the Mustangs (4-1) after winning their match 6-4.
In singles, Aaron Eliscu made quick work of his opponent at the No. 6 spot in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 to push his record to 4-1 this year. A short time later, Raz Haviv made it 3-0 Cal Poly after he won his match at the No. 2 spot in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
A little while later, Hoeijmans officially clinched the victory for Cal Poly after he won his match at the No. 3 spot, 6-3, 6-4. He is now 4-1 on the season.
Continuing to play out all the matches, Cross grinded out a hard fought three set victory at the No. 4 spot. 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 to also push his record to 4-1 on the year.
The Mustangs will now embark on a stretch of five matches away from home. They will start that Sunday, Feb. 15 when facing Weber State for a neutral site match in Spokane, WA.
