
Mustangs Take Down Weber State to Mark Fifth Straight Win

SPOKANE, Wash. — Cal Poly men’s tennis kept its winning ways going Sunday after taking down Weber State 4-3 in a neutral site match in Spokane, Wash. The victory marked five straight for the Mustangs (5-1).
The Mustangs started the match by taking the doubles point over the Wildcats. Luc Hoeijmans and Leo Matthysen started by winning their match at the No. 3 spot 6-1. That was followed by the No. 2 pair of Jack Cross and Sean Kamyshev clinching the point after winning 6-2.
Hoeijmans and Matthysen are now 4-1 together on the year, leading the Mustangs in doubles wins. Cross and Kamyshev remain unbeaten together in doubles at 3-0.
In singles, Aaron Eliscu made quick work of his opponent at the No. 6 spot, winning in dominant fashion 6-1, 6-0. He is now 5-1 on the year. Hoeijmans then followed with a dominant win of his own at the No. 3 spot, winning 6-3, 6-0. He is also 5-1 on the season.
Cross then clinched the victory for the Mustangs after he won his match at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-2. He also moved to 5-1 on the season.
Weber State then won the other three remaining singles matches to make the final score 4-3.
Cal Poly will stay in Spokane Monday to take on Gonzaga at 10 a.m.
