SAN LUIS OBISPO – Junior defender Devin Rosas (right) recorded his first Division I goal Sunday afternoon, but the 85th-minute effort came with the Cal Poly men’s soccer program already facing a multi-goal deficit as the Mustangs slipped to a 3-1 setback against California Baptist.

Cal Poly (4-3-4, 0-1-1) forced California Baptist goalkeeper Ulrik Stroem into two saves inside Sunday’s opening 20 minutes, but the Landers struck first in the 29th with an upfield pass from midfielder Stavros Charalampous finding forward Felix Ezekwuka, who bested Mustang goalkeeper Mathew Guerra.

The Lancers then made it 2-0 on 59 minutes with midfielder Drew Hardin and defender Uly Martinez combining for Charalampous, who doubled the lead with a header at the right post.

Twenty-nine seconds after an 84th-minute Cal Poly own goal, Rosas got the Mustangs on the scoresheet by heading freshman defender Peyton Marmion’s throw-in down at the near post and through the legs of Stroem.

Guerra finished with four saves for Cal Poly.
