
Three Mustangs Named to Big Sky Preseason All-Conference Team

SPOKANE, Wash. – Three Cal Poly football players were named to the Big Sky’s Preseason All-Conference Team it was announced Sunday. Redshirt senior wide receiver Michael Briscoe, junior safety Mason Rivera, and redshirt senior defensive lineman Ethan Rodriguez each received the honor.
Rivera earned Second Team All-Big Sky honors last season after being one of the top secondary players in the conference. He led the team in tackles with 82, tied for the Big Sky lead in forced fumbles with three, tied for the team lead in pass breakups with five and was third on the team in tackles for loss with six.
Briscoe is Cal Poly’s leading returning receiver. Last season, he was tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns with four. He led the Big Sky and was top 10 in the FCS in yards per reception (21.5). He was also second on the team in yards (538).

Rodriguez enjoyed his first fully healthy collegiate season in 2024 and made the most of it. He was an Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honoree after he was ninth in the Big Sky and second on the team in tackles for loss with 9.5. He was also tied for second on the team in sacks with three.
Rivera, Briscoe, Rodriguez and the rest of the Mustangs begin preparations for 2025 with fall training camp starting July 31. Cal Poly will open the season Aug. 30 on the road against San Diego.
