SAN LUIS OBISPO – Helping lead Scio HS to the Class 3A state championship after setting a new single season state record for home runs, Cal Poly softball incoming righthander Myleigh Cooper was named Gatorade Oregon Player of the Year.
At the time of her selection heading into the state tournament semifinals, Cooper was batting .824 with 26 homers, 68 runs, 72 RBI and 39 walks through 27 games.
Previously a two-time Oregon 3A Player of the Year honoree after assisting Scio HS to state runner-up showings in 2023 and 2024, Cooper – who also holds the state career home run record – took a 19-1 record and 0.84 ERA into the state tournament semifinals.
A four-time honor roll selection at Scio HS, Cooper intends to major in interdisciplinary studies.
One of seven players signing National Letters of Intent in November, Cooper will make her Cal Poly debut in 2026 alongside righthander Kaylee Davis (Pleasanton, Calif./Amador Valley HS), catcher Ava Lyons (Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley HS), infielders Leilani Allen (Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills HS) and Madi Bohannon (Oakdale, Calif./Oakdale HS) and outfielders Micayla Arlotto (Elk Grove, Calif./Franklin HS) and Karina Choi (Bolingbrook, Ill./ Bolingbrook HS).
