SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Freshman Jessica MacCallum picked up her fourth straight singles victory as the Cal Poly women's tennis team rolled to a 4-0 shutout win over San Jose State on Sunday at the Ronca Tennis Center.
The Mustangs (4-2) cruised in singles and doubles play to hand the Spartans (4-1) their first loss of the season.
Cal Poly opened the day by capturing the doubles point. Playing together for the first time this dual season, senior Peyton Dunkle and redshirt sophomore Amy Leather earned a dominant 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot before the No. 1 tandem of senior Romane Mosse and junior Kennedy Buntrock clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 triumph. Sophomore Natalie Lynch and Jessica MacCallum were leading their match at the No. 3 spot 5-4 when the doubles point was clinched.
In singles, the Mustangs quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to commanding victories at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots. First, Dunkle secured a double bagel (6-0, 6-0) at No. 2 to improve to 2-1 on the season, then Ozerets grabbed a resounding 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 to move to 4-1 on the year.

Junior Sarah MacCallum won the second set in her match at No. 6 when the dual was clinched.
The shutout victory was the second for the Mustangs in their last three matches after they earned a dominant 7-0 victory over Washington State on Feb. 7.
Cal Poly remains at home to host Gonzaga at noon Friday and Grand Canyon at 2 p.m. next Sunday, Feb. 23, to cap off a six-match homestand at the Ronca Tennis Center.
