SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly tennis teams continued their reputation of excelling at a high level both on the court and in the classroom as 11 total players — seven members of the Mustang women’s team and four from the men’s squad — were named 2026 ITA Scholar-Athletes on Monday. In addition, both the men’s and women’s programs received ITA All-Academic Team recognition.
The women’s tennis was awarded ITA All-Academic Team honors for the 10th straight year, while it marks the seventh consecutive season the men’s team has garnered the praise.
For programs to receive the ITA All-Academic Team Award, a team must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher for the academic year. To garner ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete had to achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the 2025-26 academic year.
The seven ITA Scholar-Athlete honorees for the Cal Poly women’s team are a new program record. Candela Aparisi, Kennedy Buntrock, Amy Leather, Jessica MacCallum, Sarah MacCallum, Alexandra Ozerets and Anushree Shekhera all secured the distinction.
This is the fourth consecutive season at least six players on the women’s team have garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete status with Buntrock and Sarah MacCallum both finishing their careers as four-time honorees. This is the third time Leather and Ozerets have garnered recognition, the second straight year for Shekhera and the first time for both Aparisi and Jessica MacCallum.
On the men’s team, Sean Ferguson, Luc Hoeijmans, Raz Haviv and Sean Kamyshev were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Haviv and Kamyshev were both also named to the Big West All-Academic Team, with the former earning a 4.0 spring GPA.
Hoeijmans was a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete at Tulane and added another as a Mustang for his fourth career honor. This is the third time Ferguson and Kamyshev have earned the honor, and the second time Haviv has secured a selection.
