
Mustangs Announce 49-Game Schedule for 2026

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Featuring 20 home contests at Bob Janssen Field, nine matchups against opponents that qualified for last year’s NCAA Tournament and the return of the program’s 13-game Mustang Classic – scheduled for Feb. 19-22 – the Cal Poly softball team released its 49-game regular season schedule for 2026 on Wednesday morning.
Returning six positional starters and 13 letterwinners from last season, Cal Poly’s 2026 schedule also features four Big West home series – including a March 14-15 set against defending Big West Championship winner UC Santa Barbara – and first-time opponents Manhattan and Kansas City,
Cal Poly begins its 52nd varsity season at the Feb. 6-8 NorCal Kickoff, co-hosted at Sacramento State and UC Davis. Opening the year on Friday, Feb. 6 against Colorado State, Cal Poly’s NorCal Kickoff run also includes matchups with San Diego, Saint Mary’s and Sacramento State.
All three of Cal Poly’s opponents at Stanford’s Feb. 13-15 DeMarini Invitational reached last year’s NCAA Tournament. Opening and closing play against the host Cardinal (Eugene Regional finalist), Cal Poly also squares off with Kentucky (Clemson Regional finalist) and 2025 Women’s College World Series participant Oregon.
Cal Poly opens its annual Mustang Classic – and its 2026 home slate – on Friday, Feb. 19 with a 12 noon doubleheader against Sacramento State. Home matchups follow with Pacific (Feb. 20-21), Manhattan (Feb. 21) and San Jose State (Feb. 22). Cal Poly’s eight-game home stand then concludes with a Tuesday, Feb. 24 doubleheader against 2025 NCAA Tournament qualifier Santa Clara.
The Mustangs complete Big West preparations at San Diego’s Feb. 27-March 1 Torero Classic, opening and closing play with Friday and Sunday doubleheaders against Kansas City and 2025 NCAA Tournament qualifier Washington. In between, Cal Poly meets San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Cal Poly’s 30th year of Big West action begins against the top three program’s from last year’s standings, starting at reigning regular season champion Cal State Fullerton (March 7-8). The Mustangs then host UC Santa Barbara (March 14-15) – which reached the UCLA Regional final – before visiting last year’s runner-up, CSUN (March 21-22).
A March 28-29 home series with UC Riverside follows ahead of road trips to Cal State Bakersfield (April 3-4) and UC San Diego (April 11-12).
Two of Cal Poly’s final three series occur at home, beginning April 18-19 versus Long Beach State. During the Saturday, April 18 doubleheader, Cal Poly will retire the No. 22 jersey of 2007 NFCA All-America selection and two-time All-Big West first team honoree Lisa Modglin.
After visiting Hawai’i (April 24-25), Cal Poly completes the regular season when hosting UC Davis May 1-2.
The top six programs in the 10-team Big West standings qualify for the May 6-9 Big West Championship, hosted by Cal State Fullerton at Anderson Family Field. With a double-elimination format, the Big West Championship winner qualifies for the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
