STANFORD – Second-half goals from Stanford midfielder Zach Bohane (47’) and defender Nik White (64’) marked the difference Saturday evening inside Cagan Stadium as the Cal Poly men’s soccer program completed preparations for the 2024 regular season with a 2-0 setback to the fifth-ranked Cardinal.
Cal Poly starting junior goalkeeper Nicky McCune chalked up two first-half saves to keep Saturday’s tuneup scoreless at the break. Taking over for Cal Poly in goal to begin the second half, junior Andres Rosales produced a save after 54 seconds before Bohane scored 20 seconds later to break the deadlock.
Rosales enjoyed a 59th-minute penalty save from Stanford midfielder Will Reilly before White eventually doubled the lead on 64 minutes.
Twenty-seven Mustangs – and all four goalkeepers – saw action Saturday evening.
Cal Poly next opens the regular season with a four-game road trip, starting on Thursday, Aug. 22 at San Francisco and continuing Sunday, Aug. 25 at Saint Mary’s.
