Ramuno Earns Second Big West Pitcher of Week Honor of the Season

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Contributing a pair of complete-game, 1-0 victories as part of the Cal Poly softball program's three-game, May 3-4 home sweep of UC Davis, Mustang sophomore righthander Sophia Ramuno earned her second Big West Pitcher of the Week honor of 2024 on Monday afternoon.
Ramuno began Cal Poly's series against UC Davis by striking out five Aggies and allowing just two hits in her first complete-game victory.
Less than 24 hours later – and after junior righthander Paige Maier delivered a complete-game, four-hit, 4-2 victory in game No. 2 on Friday – Ramuno closed action against the Aggies on Saturday with a three-hitter in the finale. She failed to allow a UC Davis baserunner past second in her second 1-0 win.
Ramuno, who also earned Big West Pitcher of the Week praise on March 18, ranks second among conference players with 140 strikeouts, third with a 2.44 ERA and fourth with 146.1 innings pitched. She also owns a 1.82 Big West ERA in 19 conference appearances.
As a program, third place Cal Poly (25-17, 15-8) completes the 2024 regular season when visiting UC San Diego May 10-11. The three-game series begins with a 5 p.m. matchup on Friday, May 10.
