
Cal Poly Offense Combines for Four Touchdowns in Spring Game

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Quarterbacks Sam Huard and Bo Kelly combined to throw for three touchdowns while running back Daniel Latanca rushed for a touchdown to highlight the 2024 Spring Game Saturday at Mustang Memorial Field.
Huard finished the day 13 of 24 for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Kelly was 14 of 20 for 146 yards and a touchdown.
Receiver Jake Woods led the way with five catches for 65 yards and a touchdown. Nolan Cummings also caught five passes for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Logan Booher and Dalton Bailey both caught three passes, Booher for 33 yardds and Bailey for 45 yards.
On the ground, Troy Fletcher racked up 31 yards on two carries. Kendric Sanders rushed five times for 13 yards and had a 26-yard receiving touchdown.
On the defensive side, the Mustangs had eight pass breakups, three sacks, and two passes knocked down at the line of scrimmage. Cornerback Kai Rapolla led the Mustangs with four pass breakups in the secondary.
Safety Chris Snyder led the defense in tackles with five while cornerback Delano Franklin had four. Linebacker Je'kob Jones, corner Bouda Boyd, safety Demel Turner, and linebacker Mikey D'Amato each had three tackles.
Linebacker Carson Jones, safety Troy Bean, and defensive lineman Antonio Vakameilalo each recorded sacks while Pasefika Salatielu and Josh Ngaluafe both batted down passes at the line of scrimmage.
The highlights of the day included Huard's 26-yard touchdown pass down the sideline to Sanders. Huard hit Sanders just past the line of scrimmage and Sanders, helped by a big block by receiver Kian Salehi, ran down the sideline into the endzone.
Later, Huard hit Booher for a 24-yard reception that put the offense at the one yard line. A few plays later, Latanca ran the ball up the middle into the endzone.
Kelly threw the offenses second touchdown pass to Nolan Cummings after he kept the play alive and found Cummings on the far side of the endzone for 11 yards. Huard finished the day with a 25-yard touchdown pass down the middle of the field.
Saturday capped off a month of 15 spring practices for the Mustangs. They will return to the practice field July 31 for the start of fall camp to begin preparations for the 2024 season which gets underway August 31 at the University of San Diego.
