SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Freshman Sean Kamyshev continues to have a strong rookie campaign, picking up his seventh singles win of the season, but Cal Poly men's tennis suffered a 6-1 road defeat Tuesday to No. 54 Santa Clara.
The Broncos took the doubles point to start the match despite Cal Poly's No. 3 duo of Joe Leather and Fernando Fonseca came out victorious in their match, 6-2.
In singles, Kamyshev won his match at the No. 6 spot in straight sets, 6-0, 7-5 to improve his record to a team-leading 7-4. However, Santa Clara won all five other singles matches to win the dual.
The Mustangs will now turn the page to the start of Big West play this weekend when they head over to face Hawai'i in Honolulu on Saturday at 2 p.m. PT.
