Mustangs Finish Week with Big 4-3 Win Over LMU

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly men's tennis bounced back nicely from a tough loss Thursday, coming up with a big 4-3 win over LMU Saturday at Mustang Tennis Complex.Raz Haviv and Sean Kamyshev got things going for the Mustangs (5-5) going with a 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot. Cal Poly's No. 1 duo of Colter Smith and Bastiaan Weststrate then clinched the doubles point for the Mustangs after a 6-3 victory. Weststrate and Smith are now 7-1 together to start the season.
In singles, the Lions tied things up 1-1 after winning at the No. 1 spot. Cal Poly then went ahead 3-1 after wins by Fernando Fonseca at the No. 4 spot followed by Kamyshev at the No. 6 spot.
The Mustangs then clinched the dual victory over LMU after Joe Leather pulled out a three set win at the No. 2 spot, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Cal Poly will be off until next Sunday, March 24 when they host Denver at 12 p.m. at Mustang Tennis Complex.
