Mustangs Sign Martinez to Three-Player Incoming Class

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly softball program added the third member of its 2022-23 National Letter of Intent signing class Tuesday afternoon with shortstop Sehren Martinez (Ceres, Calif. / Ceres HS) set to join the Mustangs for the 2024 season.
A four-year letterwinner and already a two-time All-Western Athletic Conference first team selection and WAC Defensive Player of the Year honoree, Martinez (as of May 3), is batting .509 this spring for Ceres HS with 28 hits, 25 runs, 22 RBI, seven doubles and five triples.
A .576 career batter, .970 career fielder and having helped Ceres HS to Western Athletic Conference titles in 2021 and 2022, Martinez is also a two-time All-WAC first team selection in volleyball. She intends to major in psychology.
Martinez joins outfielder A'Niyla Byrd (Fresno, Calif. / Edison HS) and infielder JJ Pina (West Sacramento, Calif. / River City HS) – signed to National Letters of Intent during November – in comprising Cal Poly's three-player incoming class.
