SAN LUIS OBISPO – Following a sophomore season in which she batted .370 and remained the leading hitter in the Cal Poly softball program's 49-year history, center fielder Jessica Clements earned NFCA All-West Region third team praise for the second successive season on Thursday morning.
Named to the All-Big West first team for a second time on Tuesday, Clements finished fourth among conference players this spring with 11 doubles, fifth with the .370 (51-for-138) batting average and .460 on-base percentage, sixth with 51 hits and eighth with 29 runs. She also led Cal Poly with 11 multi-hit games – including a 5-for-5 performance against Hawai'i (April 8) that matched a Big West all-time record for single game hits.
Clements reached base in all but three of Cal Poly's 42 games this spring, batted safely 34 times and averaged 1.2 hits per game.
Cal Poly's leadoff batter in all 90 games since the start of her career, Clements is a .384 career hitter.
The program's first two-time NFCA All-West Region selection since righthander Lindsey Chalmers in 2017 (second) and 2018 (third), Clements is also just Cal Poly's eighth multi-time NFCA All-West Region honoree since the award was first issued for the 1991 season.
