Cal Poly's lone win against Stanford was a 79-61 road triumph on Nov. 27, 2976. Dating to the first matchup between the two sides on Nov. 30, 1951, Stanford leads the all-time series, 8-1.
CAL POLY VERSUS MOUNT ST. MARY'S, THE METRO ATLANTIC ATHLETIC CONFERENCE AND THE STATE OF MARYLAND: The Mustangs and The Mount have never previously met. Cal Poly has played just three total all-time games versus MAAC opposition with Cal Poly falling at Siena (Dec. 29, 2018) before winning the return home matchup (Dec. 1, 2019) while also dropping a Dec. 14, 1973 matchup at St. Peter's. Cal Poly's last meeting with any program from Maryland occurred on Nov. 22, 2015, with the Mustangs topping UMBC, 78-65.
CAL POLY VERSUS IDAHO: Big West opponents between the 1996-97 and 2004-05 seasons, Cal Poly snapped a four-game slide to Idaho with a 67-63 victory in the third place game of last year's SoCal Challenge (Nov. 24). Previously, Idaho topped Cal Poly in the 2017 Great Alaska Shootout third place game, 75-66. Visiting Cal Poly for the first time since Feb. 5, 2005, Idaho leads the all-time series, 12-8.
KOROMA REMAINS CAL POLY'S OFFENSIVE CATALYST: One of Cal Poly's top two scorers for a third successive season, forward Alimamy Koroma opened his senior year with successive 15-point games against Bethesda (Nov. 7) and at San Francisco (Nov. 10) and remains the Big West Conference's early shooting leader with a 75.0 (12-for-16) percent field goal mark. With 38 career double-digit scoring games, Koroma is averaging 10.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while shooting 50.8 (312-for-614) percent through 78 collegiate outings and 49 starts. THE SMITHS: With the addition of Jamal Smith – son of fourth-year head coach John Smith – as director of operations, Cal Poly is one of only two Division I programs with that familial distinction. Louisiana Monroe, featuring head coach Keith Richard and director of operations Luke, remains the other.
LOOKING AHEAD (MONDAY, NOV. 28): Cal Poly returns from Thanksgiving break at another former Big West foe – Pacific – on Monday, Nov. 28. Tip time from the Spanos Center is 7 p.m. for Cal Poly, which faces Pacific for only the second time since the Tigers departed the Big West for the West Coast Conference following the 2012-13 season.
ETC.: Cal Poly is in its 79th season as a four-year program and 29th at the Division I level … since transitioning to the Division I level prior to the 1994-95 season, Cal Poly improved to 45-1 against non-Division I programs with a 94-59 home win against NCCAA Bethesda University (Nov. 7).
