Tom Hall was an outstanding wrestler at Cal Poly and lettered four years on the varsity team.
For two years,Tom was undefeated in dual matches and was recognized as Cal Poly's Outstanding Wrestler. Tom took top honors at the Naval Training Center AAU Tournament and won the Pacific Coast Invitational where he was voted the outstanding competitor. In 1960, Tom won the California Northern District Olympic Trials, but was unable to attend the Olympic Trials held in New York. Tom was in the Army from 1954-57, where he was selected to the All-Army Wrestling Team and placed first in the Greco-Roman Championships.
A graduate of James Lick High School in San Jose, Calif., Hall earned his degree in physical education and was in the fourth class of inductees into the Cal Poly Athletics Hall of Fame in 1990.
From 1961-1991, Tom was a teacher with the San Luis Coastal Unified School District. He continued to teach driver education until 1994 when he moved to Arizona. He also lived in Templeton, Calif., on 10 acres of land to raise beef, pigs and sheep for their six children to show at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles.
He and his wife of 57 years, Marcia, also had 14 grandchildren. He lived in Cottonwood, Arizona, until his death in April 2016.
