SAN LUIS OBISPO – Featuring three matchups against programs that reached last year’s NCAA Tournament – including a Nov. 5 visit to 2026 Final Four participant Arizona – eight games versus teams that captured conference championships a year ago and 15 home contests inside Mott Athletics Center, the Cal Poly men’s basketball program released its 31-game schedule for the 2026-27 season on Thursday.
Returning four regular starters, 12 letterwinners and its top two scorers from last season in juniors Hamad Mousa (20.4 points per game) and Cayden Ward (14.5), Cal Poly’s schedule also features 13 contests against programs that won 20-plus games a year ago.
Here are the highlights from Cal Poly’s 2026-27 schedule:

Officially starting practice on Monday, Sept. 21, Cal Poly welcomes Division II and 2026 PacWest Conference runner-up Westmont (18-12 last season) for a Friday, Oct. 23 exhibition. The Mustangs then open the regular season Monday, Nov. 2 by hosting Division II Cal State San Marcos (14-14) for the first of 14 regular season home matchups inside Mott Athletics Center.
SIX POSTSEASON QUALIFIERS
A Thursday, Nov. 5 visit to 2026 Final Four qualifier and defending Big 12 champion Arizona (36-3) marks the first of three opponents that qualified for last year’s NCAA Tournament with ensuing matchups at 2026 Big Sky Tournament champion Idaho (21-15) on Friday, Nov. 13 and home-and-away contests against defending WAC Tournament titlist turned Big West colleague California Baptist (25-9). Three more of Cal Poly’s upcoming opponents reached last year’s NIT in UNLV (18-17), WAC regular season champion and now Big West foe Utah Valley (25-9) and 2026 Big West regular season champion UC Irvine (23-12).
BOLD WEEK AND AN EXPANDED BIG WEST
Cal Poly’s 31st season of Big West action begins with the conference’s Bold Week and visits to CSUN (20-14) on Thursday, Dec. 3 and rival UC Santa Barbara (18-14) on Saturday, Dec 5. The now 22-game conference schedule includes the offseason additions of Utah Valley and California Baptist – last year’s top-two finishers in the WAC – and Sacramento State from the Big Sky.
BACK HOME IN MOTT
The Mustangs feature 14 regular season home games once more beginning with the Monday, Nov. 2 season opener against Cal State San Marcos and closing with first-year Big West foes Utah Valley (Thursday, March 4) and Sacramento State (Saturday, March 6).
