Mustang Volleyball Drops Ranked Test at Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Cal Poly volleyball fell in straight sets to Indiana on Thursday at Wilkinson Hall, as the Hoosiers took the match 25-11, 25-16, 28-26, dropping the Mustangs to 3-3 on the year.
Indiana controlled the opening two sets, limiting Cal Poly to a .083 attack percentage in the first, which ended 25-11. Though the Mustangs showed more fight in the second, the Hoosiers still followed up with a 25-16 victory.
The third set was the most competitive of the match, with 10 ties and multiple lead changes. Cal Poly built momentum midway through and eventually held a 24-23 advantage, serving for the set.
Indiana fought off the set point to force extras and eventually closed out the match on a block to seal the 28-26 victory.
Cal Poly was led offensively by Emma Fredrick, who recorded 11 kills on 25 attempts, and Kendall Beshear, who added nine kills. Kayla Murdoch also contributed nine kills while hitting .300.
Alexis Haury supported them with 25 assists. Defensively, Charlotte Kelly chipped in four block assists, while Elif Hurriyet gathered 12 digs.
The Mustangs will look to bounce back in their next match, returning to action against neutral-site opponent Eastern Illinois in Bloomington on Friday, September 11 at 10 a.m. PT.
