Maggie Keyes-Kraft came to Cal Poly in 1976 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts in 1980 and received her master's Degree in 1982.
Maggie was an outstanding cross country and distance runner. She was a co-record holder in the indoor 1,500 meters in the Millrose Games. In outdoor competition, she was ranked in the top 10 in the1,500 meters in the United States from 1979-85, in the 3,000 meters from 1981-84, and in the 5,000 meters from 1982-83. In 1980, she was the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women 1,500-meter champion.
Maggie Keyes-Kraft was a world-class competitor and represented the United States in international competitions in Japan, Canada, Russia, East Germany and was a member of the World University Games in 1981.
A graduate of Tamalpais High School, Maggie was inducted into the Marin Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame in 2007.
Maggie lives in Arizona and is an elementary school teacher. Her husband, Cal Poly alumnus Greg Kraft, has been the associate athletic director of track and field at Arizona State University since 1996. They have two sons, Kyle and Cory, both Arizona State graduates.
