Expected to battle Nicolo DiFronzo for starting nod at right guard or right tackle on the offensive line at Cal Poly this fall.
2018 -- Played in 10 of Cal Poly's 11 games as a junior on the offensive line ... helped Mustangs to No. 4 national ranking in rushing offense, No. 1 in time of possession and No. 5 in third-down conversion ... earned Big Sky Conference All-Academic honors for third straight year.
2017 -- Played in all 11 games as a sophomore, including starts in final two games against Sacramento State and Northern Colorado ... also played on special teams ... earned Big Sky Conference All-Academic honors for second straight year.
2016 -- Played in all 12 games as a reserve offensive lineman and on special teams ... earned a spot on the Big Sky Conference's Football All-Academic Team.
2015 -- Redshirt.
High School -- A 2015 graduate of San Luis Obispo High School, where Chellsen lettered in both football and track and field ... a starter on the offensive line as a senior under head coach Pat Johnston, earning All-Pac-5 League and All-San Luis Obispo County honors ... named his team's lineman of the year ... missed most of his sophomore season and all of his junior year due to knee injuries ... in track, earned best marks of 154-5 in discus (placing third in Pac-8 League Championship) and 46-11 3/5 in shot put (placed seventh in Pac-8 finals) while placing first in multiple meets ... advanced to the CIF-Southern Section prelims in the discus ... helped Tigers to third straight Pac-8 League team title ... selected to play in FCA All-Star Showcase at Santa Ynez High School ... awarded scholar-athlete honors in multiple seasons and earned at least a 4.0 grade-point average every trimester ... elected to be a recruited walk-on at Cal Poly because "I have always wanted to go there. I grew up in San Luis Obispo and have been a fan of Cal Poly football for as long as I can remember. Cal Poly Engineering is the best fit for me academically and also has an outstanding football program."
Personal -- Son of Mike and Denise Chellsen ... both parents are Cal Poly graduates ... father owns ESPN Radio 1280, Cal Poly's flagship station, and played basketball at Cal Poly from 1984-87 ... one sister, Jessica, who plays volleyball at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah ... cousin Denise played volleyball at Gonzaga and professionally in Sweden ... uncle Rob played football at UC Davis while another uncle, Chris, played football and rugby at Air Force ... cousin Eric played water polo at UC Santa Barbara ... enjoyed wood shop and welding in high school ... claims to be a "very technical paintballer" ... chose to attend Cal Poly because of its engineering program and football team ... served internship in summer of 2017 and 2018 with HDMI in San Jose, Calif. and helped with a charity volleyball tournament for QL+ ... born in San Luis Obispo, Calif. ... majoring in industrial engineering.
