Neil Fendall, a safety under head coach Tim Walsh at PortlandState in the mid-1990s, was hired as an assistant football coach atCal Poly in August 2012. Fendall coaches the defensive backs.
For six seasons, Fendall was an assistant coach at LinfieldCollege in Oregon. Linfield was 10-1 a year ago for its 56thconsecutive winning season, captured the Northwest Conference titleand earned a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs, falling toWesley 49-34 in the second round.
A 1997 graduate of Portland State, Fendall lettered four timesin football, earning most valuable player honors as a safety. Heserved as the Vikings' team captain and played on three NCAAplayoff squads during his time in the Park Blocks.
Fendall, a three-sport athlete at Milwaukie High School, was anassistant coach at Milwaukie, Oregon City and Grants Pass highschools for eight seasons before he was hired at Linfield.
Fendall, 40, and his wife, Lynne, have three children: Taylor,12, Hannah, 9, and Gracie, 6.
