Mustangs Open 2026 Preseason Camp Tuesday Morning

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Making its Pac-12 Conference debut this fall after capturing the last two Big West regular season titles, the Cal Poly men’s soccer program begins its 2026 preseason training camp Tuesday morning.
Returning three all-conference selections, four starters, 14 letterwinners and 50 percent of its 2025 goal production from last fall, Cal Poly enjoys 16 days of preparation ahead of its Thursday, Aug. 20 regular season opening matchup at Denver. In between, the Mustangs host San Francisco (Sunday, Aug. 9) and visit Stanford (Saturday, Aug. 15) for exhibitions.
In addition to welcoming 10 newcomers to the roster, Cal Poly – following 25 Big West seasons – joined the Pac-12 as an associate member in March after the conference reinstated men’s soccer.
As part of the strategic partnership between the Big West and Pac-12, Cal Poly, UC Riverside and UC San Diego transitioned to the Pac-12 to join Oregon State, San Diego State, Gonzaga and California Baptist. The 2026 Pac-12 schedule comprises six matches with the top four programs qualifying for the conference tournament.
On the field, Cal Poly brings back two of its top three goalscorers from a year ago in junior forward Quinn Mahoney and sophomore defender Tanner Casey (four goals apiece). Mahoney is Cal Poly’s active leading goalscorer with eight in his standout career while Casey scored in three of his first four collegiate appearances in 2025.
Senior Jack Civitts and sophomore defender Michael Vick produced five assists apiece last fall to finish joint second among Big West players. Civitts added two goals while junior forward Finn Linas also found the back of opposition net twice in 2025. Juniors Rylan Firouznam, Charlie Hogan and Colin Pearce are also back in the lineup after scoring in 2025.
During its back-to-back Big West title runs, Cal Poly featured the conference’s stingiest defense with the Mustangs – during the last two years – producing a combined 0.71 goals against average with 19 shutouts and conceding just 28 times in 39 games.
In goal, Cal Poly looks to replace two-time Big West Goalkeeper of the Year selection Nicky McCune, who graduated as the program’s all-time leader with a 0.85 career goals against average. Sophomore Dylan Glowaski is the only other Mustang to have played in goal the last two seasons with one appearance last fall.
