
Three Mustangs in Top 30 as Cal Poly Sits Fifth at Ohio State’s Kepler Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With graduate student Kyle Dougherty (above) climbing 41 spots on the leaderboard at Ohio State’s Robert Kepler Invitational between Saturday’s first and second rounds, three Mustangs reside in the top 30 as the Cal Poly men’s golf program sits fifth overall.
At the par-72, 7,077-yard Columbus Country Club, Dougherty followed a morning 74 with four afternoon birdies as part of a four-under 68. With the second-round performance, Dougherty moved into a tie for 10th place overall with a two-under 142.
Entering Sunday morning’s final round, Dougherty is just five shots behind overall leaders Cameron Pero (Miami-OH) and Torger Ohe (Minnesota).
Sophomore Nolan Kuszyk is a shot behind Dougherty after carding a morning 74 and, with five afternoon birdies, a three-under 69.
Junior Jack Jarvis is in 26th position having recorded a one-under 71 in the morning, a one-over 73 in the afternoon and seven total birdies Saturday.
Freshman Rafael Bobo-Lloret opened with a four-under 68 before chalking up a five-over 77 in the afternoon and resides in 40th.
As a team, Cal Poly shares fifth with Abilene Christian with dual two-under 574s. Minnesota leads entering Sunday’s final round at 18-under.
