Mustangs Take on West Coast Relays Saturday

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly track and field program travels to the Central Valley on Saturday to take part in the West Coast Relays hosted by Fresno State at Buchanan High’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The meet gets underway at 10 a.m. Saturday for the Mustangs with the women’s long jump and continues through the rest of the day. You can follow the live results HERE.

Over 40 Mustangs are scheduled to compete in the West Coast Relays, the fifth straight year Cal Poly has taken part in the meet. The team is fresh off winning 17 events and posting nine top-10 marks in program history at the fourth annual Mark Conover Classic, the team’s lone home meet this season. The women’s 4x100-meter relay also shattered a 44-year-old school record during the meet.
Cal Poly swept the Big West men’s weekly awards this week following the performances over the weekend as Travis Martin was tabbed as the Big West Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Vincent Atilano earned Big West Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Notable entries for Saturday’s meet include Desie Armstong (women’s 100, long jump), Madison Easter (women’s 100, 200), Cadence Roy-Williams (women’s 100, long jump), Tayhlore Hoagland (women’s 100, long jump), Ava Simos (women’s 200), Astrid Teran (women’s pole vault), Taylor Hofland (women’s shot put), Golda Demby (women’s shot put), Vincent Atilano (men’s 400 hurdles), Carson Smith (men’s 800), Lewis Westwood (men’s 800) and Ben Feyrer (men’s 800). Three-time First Team All-American Aidan McCarthy is also set to make his outdoor season debut in the men’s 800.
Following this weekend’s action, Cal Poly travels to the Bay Area, sending its top athletes to the Stanford Invitational next Friday and Saturday, while the rest of the team will take part in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on the same days.
