SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — One of the most accomplished women’s pole vaulters in the history of the Cal Poly track and field program, Lexi Evans is officially a First Team All-American in the classroom and in competition.
Evans, an aerospace engineering major boasting an impressive 3.93 cumulative GPA, was named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Division I Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country First Team on Monday. She was one of just 15 student-athletes in Division I to be selected to the CSC Academic All-America First Team for the sport.
The San Diego, Calif. native is just the third athlete in Cal Poly history to receive CSC Academic All-America First Team honors, joining Laura Buehning (1982, women’s basketball) and John Bennett (2023, men’s track & field/cross country). Evans is now the first two-time CSC Academic All-American in Cal Poly history after she secured CSC Academic All-America Third Team honors a year ago.
This is the 16th time a Cal Poly student-athlete has earned CSC Academic All-America praise and it’s the fifth straight year an athlete from the Cal Poly track and field program has garnered the accolade.
Evans is just over a month removed from capturing First Team All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, placing seventh to become just the third Mustang ever to secure First Team All-American praise in the women’s pole vault outdoors. While breaking her own school and Big West record in the process, Evans also became the first Mustang on the women’s side to earn First Team All-American honors outdoors in 15 years.
The 2025-26 Cal Poly Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year grabbed Second Team All-American honors back in March after finishing 12th in the event at NCAA Indoor Championships. With her performance this year, Evans joined former Mustang Paula Serrano (1999) as the only two athletes in program history to earn All-American honors in the women’s pole vault indoors and outdoors during the same season.
Evans’ showing at the NCAA Outdoor Championships allowed the Cal Poly women to score team points at the meet for the 14th time in program history and the first time since 2011.
The 27th Division I First Team All-American outdoors in the history of the women’s track and field program, Evans secured her third straight Big West title in the women’s pole vault this spring and finishes her career as a two-time All-American and the indoor and outdoor school record holder in the event.
Evans is a three-time Big West All-Academic selection and a three-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Athlete.
