SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — A total of nine student-athletes on the Cal Poly track & field and cross country teams received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
On the women’s side, Desie Armstrong, Madison Easter, Lexi Evans, Tayhlore Hoagland, Jordan Jackson and Ava Simos all garnered recognition. For the Cal Poly men, Conrad Bernstein, Taj Clark and Lewis Westwood earned a spot on the All-District Team.
The CSC Academic All-District men's and women's track & field and cross country teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their excellence and dedication in athletics and in the classroom. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA at their respective institution, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, rank top 50 individually in at least one event in their respective region (cross country, indoor or outdoor track & field) and meet several other requirements. Each track & field and cross country program is only allowed to nominate up to six student-athletes per gender for recognition.
For Evans, this is her third straight year receiving CSC Academic All-District praise. Last year, the four-time NCAA West Prelims qualifier was selected to the CSC Academic All-America Third Team, marking the fourth straight year an athlete from the Cal Poly track and field program garnered CSC Academic All-American praise. This year, Evans was also selected as a finalist to be considered for CSC Academic All-American recognition, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees on the women’s side set to be announced on Wednesday, July 15. The San Diego native recently wrapped up her collegiate career, placing seventh in the women’s pole vault at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene just two weeks ago to earn First Team All-American honors.
This is also Westwood’s third consecutive year securing CSC Academic All-District praise, while Armstrong, Bernstein, Clark, Easter, Hoagland, Jackson and Simos are all first time honorees.
