
No. 70 Cal Poly Falls to No. 54 Princeton at Home

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — In its first home match in over a month, Cal Poly women’s tennis fell to 54th-ranked Princeton 4-0 on Thursday night at the Ronca Tennis Center.
In doubles play, senior Kennedy Buntrock and sophomore Jessica MacCallum teamed up for a dominant 6-2 victory at No. 1 to help the 70th-ranked Mustangs (7-5) get off to a strong start. The dynamic duo improved to 6-3 this season with the win.
The two remaining doubles matches at No. 2 and No. 3 were both tightly contested, but ultimately Cal Poly dropped both, allowing the Tigers to secure the doubles point.
In singles play, Princeton earned straight-set wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 to close out the dual.
Jessica MacCallum grabbed a 7-5 first-set victory at No. 2 before the match was clinched by the Tigers (11-1) and Buntrock was leading the second set in her match at No. 1 3-1.
Cal Poly hits the road to face No. 6 Pepperdine (10-3) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.
