Mustangs Come Up Short Sunday Against No. 45 UC Irvine

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly men's tennis battled against No. 45 UC Irvine Sunday, taking the doubles point, but ultimately fell short at home to the Anteaters, 4-1.
The Mustangs (7-11, 1-2 Big West) got off to a good start in the match with the doubles tandems of Aaron Eliscu and Wian Roothman at the No. 3 spot as well as John Cross and Sean Kamyshev at the No. 2 spot each getting wins to give Cal Poly the 1-0 lead heading into singles.
It was a good battle in singles, with three of the six matches going to three sets. However, the No. 45 Anteaters picked up wins at the No. 2, 4, 3, and 5 spots to earn the 4-1 win.
Cal Poly will play its final home match of the 2025 season Tuesday at noon against UC Riverside.
