Cal Poly Closes Trip to Phoenix with Shutout Win Over Seattle U

PHOENIX — Cal Poly men's tennis capped its road trip to Phoenix with a 4-0 neutral site shutout victory over Seattle University Thursday.
In doubles, the Mustangs' No. 2 duo of John Cross and Sean Kamyshev won their match 6-2 before the No. 3 tandem of Wian Roothman and Aaron Eliscu collected a 6-0 victory to clinch the point for Cal Poly.
In singles, Kamyshev made quick work of his opponent at the No. 4 spot, winning 6-2, 6-3. John Cross then followed suit shortly thereafter with a 6-2, 6-3 win as well at the No. 3 spot. Cross is now 6-6 in singles so far in his freshman season.
The shutout was clinched later by freshman Jack McGary at the No. 5 spot 6-1, 6-4 to notch his fifth singles win of the season.
Cal Poly will now return home for its next two matches. Both are Big West matches, starting Sunday, April 6 at 11 a.m. against UC Irvine.
