Weststrate, McGary Collect Singles Wins in Loss to NAU

DENVER — Senior Bastiaan Weststrate and freshman Jack McGary each recorded singles wins, but the Cal Poly men's tennis team fell Saturday to Northern Arizona 5-2 in a neutral site match in Denver.
Playing in the mile high city for the second straight day, the Mustangs (1-2) just missed out on the doubles point as the Lumberjacks won at both the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, 6-3.
In singles, Weststrate won his match at the No. 2 spot in comeback fashion, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 to record his second win of the season.
A little while later, McGary won his match at the No. 6 spot 7-6(0), 3-6, 7-6(5) to also earn his second victory of the season.
Northern Arizona however won all four other singles matches to win the dual 5-2.
Cal Poly will play its next two matches at home, both next week. They will start by hosting Santa Clara Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. They will then face Gonzaga Sunday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. at Ronca Tennis Center.
