Cal Poly Football Adds Junior College Transfer Matt Nuanez to 2024 Roster

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly Football has added 6'5, 240 pound defensive lineman Matt Nuanez from San Diego Mesa Junior College.
Head Coach Paul Wulff is looking forward to adding Nuanez to the D-line room because of his hard-working mentality and energy.
"Matt has really developed through junior college and we look forward to him showing his athleticism and his relentless effort on the field of play," Wulff commented. "He plays with a great motor and we are excited to see him playing defensive end for us this fall."
Nuanez played two years as a defensive-end for the junior college. In his first year he played in
five games recording six tackles. In 2023 he played in ten games recording 22 total tackles, 16 solo along with two sacks.
He attended Point Loma High School where he played baseball all four years, and didn't start playing football until San Diego Mesa Junior College. His dad Scott Nuanez played offensive lineman at San Diego State. His sister Becca Nuanez played volleyball at UNC Wilmington.
